Why should you Stay Healthy?
There is a mountain of evidence which shows that those people who eat healthy and exercise regularly have a much lower risk of developing heart disease, lung disease, cancers and strokes and a much better chance of staying healthy.
This also involves enjoying things like alcohol in moderation and not smoking at all if you want to stay healthy.
Tips to Stay Healthy
Exercise tips: First of all exercise does not have to be a boring lonely jog. There’s loads of options such as Swimming, Walking, Home exercise with exercise DVDs or weights, Cycling or playing sports.
Motivation: If you are struggling to get motivated to exercise regularly then just ask a friend, chances are they are looking for exactly the same thing. Jogging or walking together is not only a great way to exercise, but it’s also a great way to gossip and socialise.
Eat a varied diet: First of all it’s never too late in life to start staying healthy and eating healthy. Make sure you get plenty of vegetables in all colours (different colours normally indicate different vitamins and minerals), steamed vegetables are always better than fried or baked as they maintain more nutrients. Often the cooking process makes food easier to digest, this is especially true with the beta carotene in carrots. Fruits, Whole grain cereals and breads, oily fish and low fat meats and dairy are also part of a healthy varied diet to stay healthy.

Staying Healthy at Work
Here are a few tips to help you stay healthy at work, particularly in the office environment.
1) Walk instead of driving and take the stairs instead of the lift. This staying healthy tip may seem obvious but it will lead good results if you do it everyday.
2) Have breakfast. Not only will it help you wake up, but it will also kick start your digestion and help you to think more clearly.
3) Have a shower. Showers help to clean and remove any bacteria and bed bugs. In addition, the steam in showers can help decongest your nose and lungs of any phlegm to make you breathe easier.
4) Maintain a good Posture. Make sure you sit in a comfortable chair with good back support. This should help to reduce any backaches from developing. Invest in a wrist rest, it will make using your mouse allday more comfortable.
5) Get up and move around. Making a cup of tea for everyone in the office once or twice a day is a good way to get up and walk about for 5-10 minutes and a convenient way to take a break from work and staring a computer screen.
6) Get your eyesight checked regularly. If you are straining your eyes even a little bit, over the coarse of 8 hours a day, 5 days a week you will soon develop headaches and tension.
Staying Healthy over 50
- Have a good relationship with your doctor and make sure you get tested regularly for common cancers and remember prevention is always better than cure.
- Try to maintain a healthy weight for your body type. Those who are overweight have a greater chance of developing things like diabetes and heart disease.
- Don’t Smoke or Stop. Simple but extremely effective at keeping you healthy.
- Stick to the recommended daily allowance for alcohol, or even better don’t drink any at all. But let’s be honest that would’nt be any fun!
- Have your vitals checked regularly, including Blood pressure, breathing and heart rate.
